If you’ve ever walked into Lighthouse Church, you might have noticed four small symbols above some of the doors — a heart, an X, a cross, and a question mark. Together, they tell the greatest story ever told.
These are called The Four Points, and they give a simple way to understand the message of Christianity.
1. The Heart ❤️ — God Loves You
The Bible begins with a beautiful truth: we are created and loved by God. He made us on purpose, for a purpose — to know Him and be in relationship with Him.
“We love because he first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19 (NIV)
2. The X ❌ — We’ve Turned Away
But we’ve all chosen to go our own way instead of God’s. The Bible calls that sin — and it separates us from the One who made us. We see its effects all around us in broken relationships, hurt, and guilt.
3. The Cross ✝️ — Jesus Saves
God didn’t leave us there. Out of love, He sent His Son, Jesus, who died in our place to bring forgiveness and restore our relationship with God. Through Him, we can have new life — starting now and lasting forever.
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8 (NIV)
4. The Question Mark ❓ — What Will You Choose?
The final symbol is an invitation. God offers His love and forgiveness, but each of us must decide how to respond. Will we choose to follow Him and live in that relationship He designed us for?
Whether you’ve been exploring faith for a while or you’re just curious about what Christianity is really about, The Four Points is a great place to start. Over the next few weeks, we’ll unpack each symbol in more detail — beginning with what it means that God loves you.
